Plenty to deck the halls this weekend across Stillwater County

If you’re looking for Christmas fun this weekend, it won’t be hard to find.

COLUMBUS CHRISTMAS JUBILEE
The Columbus Christmas Jubilee kicks off Friday, Dec. 1, with vendors at the Evangelical Church and at St. James Lutheran Church from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pictures with Santa will take place at the Evangelical Church from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. You can pre-register at https://thefrontporchmt.weebly.com, but walk-ins are welcome. There is a craft element involved with the Santa photos that involves the child making a frame. There is a charge for the craft, but not for Santa photos. The annual Christmas tree auction and chili feed at Beartooth Ford will run from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., with the Parade of Lights starting at 7 p.m.
Cap the night off with a free showing of “The Polar Express” at the Evangelical Church, complete with popcorn, hot chocolate and other treats. Each child will also receive a treat bag and a chance to win a prize. A parent or guardian must be present.
Head back to both churches Saturday for more vendors, photos, games, treats and crafts. A magic show will be presented at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Church.

ABSAROKEE SNOWFLAKE FESTIVAL
Also on Friday night will be the Absarokee Snowflake Festival, put on by the Absarokee Area Merchants. The festival gets underway at 10 a.m. with the release of the Merchants Map. Hayrides will be offered until 6 p.m., courtesy of Paintbrush Adventures, at which time a lighted parade will begin. A spaghetti dinner at the Absarokee Senior Center will be served from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
A PTA sponsored dance for K-4th graders will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cobblestone, and a 5th grade to 8th grade youth dance at the Cobblestone from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Pictures with Santa at First Interstate Bank slated from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. A fireworks show will take place at 6:30 p.m. Adults can sing Christmas Karaoke at the Chrome or dance to a DJ at the Five Spot starting at 7 p.m.

COBBLESTONE WINTER BAZAAR
Saturday, Dec. 2, will bring the Cobblestone Winter Bazaar from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. A soup and bread luncheon will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendors include western wear and décor items, greeting cards, holiday wreaths, decorative coasters, winter wear and many more.

Sunday will see Project Hope’s Kids’ Shopping Day at the Stillwater Pavilion for Stillwater County residents from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Contact Project Hope for details.

NYE GETS LIT
Then to round out the weekend, Nye Gets Lit will get underway at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Nye Fire Hall, hosted by the Nye Community Foundation. Gourmet chili (hot or mild), chicken soup and other goodies are on deck. Laura Blond and Keagan Sandlin will play the violin while Nye School Children sing. There will also be a silent auction of various quilt pieces. This annual event serves as a thank you to the community for its support. The Nye Community Foundation benefactors include the Nye School, the Nye Church, the Nye Volunteer Fire Hall, Cruising’ 4 Seniors, Skips Kids, the Absarokee (Stillwater) Senior Center, the Stillwater Valley Watershed Council as well as many others.
