Fishtail hoping for no conflicting events next summer

Fishtail Family Fun Day is an event that has been celebrated in the community for over 20 years. At that time we became the keepers of the building that is known as the Fishtail Community Center.
The Family Fun Day is held to make it possible for the community to keep the building open for use at a very reasonable amount. We were also able to purchase and secure the property across the street from the center. We have developed and maintain that park which is a wonderful place to stop and rest a moment if you live in the area or are passing through.
Fishtail Family Fun Day has always been held on the first Saturday after Father’s Day. This is an established date that has worked well for us in the past.
However, this year the Montana Barbeque Cook-Off decided to have their event on the same week end starting on Saturday and ending on Sunday. This decision made it very difficult for us to make the amount of money that we need to keep the center and the park available for the community. We are all volunteers here.
We have no paid directors. We have limited funding for advertising, but we do the best we can.
We hope in the future this date will be honored as a day to spend in Fishtail. A place where those that live here don’t have to divide their loyalty.
