Columbus Relay for Life team holding bake sale

The Columbus Team Dot/Dan Relay for Life Team will be holding a bake sale on June 30 in front of the Family Dollar store.
The team has about one month left to raise funds. As of last Friday, the team had raised $4,056.06, placing it 11th out of 159 teams participating in the Yellowstone County area Relay for Life event which will take place in July, according to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life website.
The team’s initial goal had been $3,000, which was bumped up after that was reached. The new goal is $6,000. The last fundraiser scheduled for the team will take place at the 2015 Nitro National Pro Hillclimb June 19 and 20th where team members will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets for some signed helmets, as well as luminaries.
The team is comprised of Columbus IGA employees and family members who have been personally touched by cancer. The team is named in memory of Chris Remond’s son, Dan Gladney, and Marko Fangsrud wife, Dorothy, both of whom passed away in the last year to cancer.
Captain Frankie Edwards is a cancer survivor herself and with Connie Green has been participating in the world-wide event for the past three years. This year’s theme is “Calling All Angels.”
