Barbara Jeanette Heimer, 57, of Mesa, Ariz., passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of Thursday, April 2, 2015. The ninth of 15 children, Barb was born Feb. 11, 1958, in Faith, South Dakota, to Ambrose and Eugenie Heimer. In 1963, the Heimer family moved from South Dakota to Absarokee, Mont., where Barb attended school. She was active in sports including cross-country, basketball, and cheerleading, and was a lifeguard at the local pool.
In 1977, Barb married Evaine Hamilton and in 1984 moved to Mesa, Ariz. Together they had three beautiful children for whom she was an exemplary role model — her children were her life.
Barb was employed as an Interconnections Development Advisor at Arizona Public Service Company. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Kenny, Lewie, and Dink.
She is survived by her three children: Andrew Hamilton, of San Tan Valley, Ariz., Karly Hamilton, of Mesa, Ariz., and Danielle Hamilton, of Chandler, Ariz., along with six brothers: Joe (Channie) Heimer, of Livingston Mont., Mike (Lynda) Heimer, of Absarokee, Mont., Harry (Gwen) Heimer, of Roscoe, Mont., Bob (Dawn) Heimer, of Boise, Idaho, Mark (Cori) Heimer, of Absarokee, Mont., John (Laura) Heimer, of Battle Mountain, NV, and five sisters: Nancy (Tom) Palmer, of Billings, Mont., Judy of Colorado, Karen (Terry) Eichelberger, of Townsend, Mont., Gwenie Heimer of Absarokee, Mont., and Ann (Kevin) Dickey, of Emmet, Idaho.
Barb had a passion for life and lived it to the fullest. She had a deep appreciation for the natural world and cherished time spent with her friend John, camping with friends, and hunting trips with her son. She had a quick wit, loved to talk, to laugh, and learn something new, but always got in the last word! She radiated enthusiasm and respect for others with no trace of prejudice.
She lit up a room and brought joy to all who knew her. She embodied the words of Mother Teresa: “Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”
An open house will be held at Barbara’s home in Mesa, Ariz., from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Celebration of Life from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Please Email for address and directions. Plans for a service in her hometown in Montana will be planned later. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting contributions to assist with end of life arrangements, or send a donation on behalf of Barbara Heimer to the Salvation Army Christmas Angels fund at 241 E. 6th St, Mesa, AZ 85201.
