Roger Brian Maki, 50, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015, after a 6-month battle with an aggressive cancer.
The youngest of five children Roger was born Feb. 22, 1965, the son of William “Bill” and Leona Maki. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1984. He married the love of his life, Tracey Slovarp, on April 21, 1990.
Most recently Roger was living and working in the Bakken Oil Fields of North Dakota.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Bill Maki, and nephew Greg Lethert. Roger leaves behind his wife, Tracey, of 25 years, and four children: Jeff, Ashley, Tamara and Zack; five grandchildren A.J., Alicia, Aundrea, Aujaree and Hannah; mother, Leona Maki; two sisters Charla (Steve) Lethert, Susan Schaff; two brothers Chuck and Dennis. He is also survived by several nephews, nieces and their families.
Roger was loved by friends, family and all who knew him for his big heart, generosity, and thoughtfulness.
Roger’s family would like to send out a special thanks to the caring staff of the University of Minnesota Cancer Hospital, Billings Frontier Cancer Center, and St. Vincent Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at the Upper Whitebird School on Whitebird School Road. Interment at Columbus Mountain View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to charity of your choice or to the family to assist in defraying funeral expenses.
