Not your average library book sale this year
The Stillwater County Library is planning a large book sale after receiving a donation of an extensive book collection.
Ruth Anderson, owner of Wyoming Well Book Exchange in Cody, donated her entire store inventory to the library when she recently retired. The collection includes 41,000 books, which Librarian Della Haverland said are all in good condition.
The donated books actually outnumber the books in the Stillwater County Library collection. Haverland said the library has 40,074 books.
The Friends of the Library paid to move the books and fixtures to Columbus. Shannon Caraway donated several storage units at Columbus Mini Storage to house everything until the book sale.
The library acquired approximately 200 of the books to add to their collection, Haverland said. The rest of the books are being sold at the sale. Bookshelves and bookends will also be offered at the sale.
The book sale will be held at the Stillwater County Pavilion from April 21 - 29 at the following times:
•April 21-24: Noon - 7 p.m.
•April 25: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
•April 26: Closed
•April 27-29: Noon - 7 p.m.
Pricing for books will vary between 25 cents and two dollars.
Book donations for the sale are still being accepted from the community as well. Donations will be accepted at the Pavilion on April 20.
Volunteers are still needed to help with the book sale or setup and teardown. Setup will be on Monday, April 20 between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. with volunteers meeting at the library. Teardown will be on Thursday, April 30 beginning at 9 a.m. with volunteers meeting at the Pavilion. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the library for more information.
