Tillie was born in Dusseldorf, Germany March 20, 1916, and passed on to Heaven July 8, 2015, in Columbus, Mont.
She came to the United States as a girl, and lived in the Cleveland, Ohio, area until moving to Montana after retirement to be near family. Tillie enjoyed travelling, bowling, knitting, dancing and singing. She enjoyed cards and games and was a fierce pinochle and Scrabble competitor.
She liked animals, especially cats, and was an avid Cleveland Indians baseball fan. Tillie was independent, spunky, and never afraid to tell you what she thought. She was a member of Parma Lutheran Church and Divinity Lutheran in Ohio, and enjoyed fellowship at St. James Lutheran in Columbus as well as Immanuel Lutheran in Absarokee.
She also enjoyed membership in Eastern Star, travelling choir, and Stillwater Homemakers. After seeing the amazing changes to the world her 99 years of life brought, Tillie moved on to live out eternity with the Lord.
Tillie was preceded in death by sister Anne Pirich, husband Harry Schultz, and later remarried and was also preceded in death by husband Tony Mezzulo. She leaves behind her son, Richard (Susan) Schultz, Grandsons Richard (Marsha) Schultz, Chris Schultz, and Jeremy Schultz. She also leaves great grandchildren who knew her as “Omah,” Martyka, Taylor, Maryssa and Samantha Schultz, as well as loyal friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Aspen Meadows in Billings and Beartooth Manor in Columbus for their care of Tillie in the last few years. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 20, 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 301 S. Montana Ave., Absarokee.
