Vietnam veterans, Sharia Law and Politics and Eggs
On Wednesday, April 20, 2016, I received an announcement (via email) from the office of Rep. Ryan Zinke.
The National Defense Authorization Act of 2008 included the authorization of a commemorative lapel pin (lasting memento) to honor the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War (2016).
So, I said to myself - “opportunity knocking.” Gary Carlson, guest speaker for Saturday, May 7, Politics and Eggs Breakfast-Montana Style served in Vietnam – U.S. Marines. What if Rep. Zinke was in this area and could attend the event and thank Mr. Carlson.
I sent the email and received a reply that same day. I chuckled to the response: “Due to House Ethics Rules we are not allowed to conduct any political activity on government resources.” Resources must be the “pin.”
Well, I tried. Just wondering if this “resource” was made in the U.S.A. What was the cost?
Now, Sharia Law. I was given a name for a speaker on this topic for a future P & E. Great. However, this speaker lives in Virginia Beach, Va.. On Sunday, April 24, 2016, I sent an email to Bill Federer. My story went something like this: “Perhaps you have family in this area or have Yellowstone National Park on your ‘Bucket List’ because I have ‘zero budget’ to cover your transportation costs to Columbus but really would like you as a speaker. The email had a “Request Read” option.
Later that afternoon I received an acknowledgment that it had been read. Then later that evening I received a response from Mr. Federer with a solution to the “zero budget” problem. I’m working on the solution.
Check out www.americanminute.com which is a daily history lesson by Bill Federer. You can also Bing or Googgle his name for more information.
Involvement brings awareness? True. Involvement means activity? True. Activity can vary? True.
