Lawrence R. Zwiefelhofer, 86, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2016, in Texas where he lived with his son Tracy and family.
Lawrence was born Sept. 3, 1929, and raised in Cooks Valley, Wis. He moved west to Montana as a young man seeking his dreams and aspirations in architecture as a young carpenter.
He met his bride of 63 years Eileen Neiffer in Miles City, Mont. Beginning their journey there, they moved to Bozeman and then to Columbus, Mont.
Lawrence constructed custom homes during his entire career, many of them in the Stillwater County area. All were built with his knowledge, strength and love for other families to enjoy.
Lawrence loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. He enjoyed annual Powder River hunting trips, fishing for rainbow trout at the lake, halibut in Alaska or just firing up the barbecue with a cool one while entertaining his family and friends. Lawrence was a loving husband, dedicated father and true friend to those who knew him. He was the proud father of four boys, Larry, Dennis, Jay and Tracy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eileen, son Dennis, grandson Travis and one sister.
He is survived by his three sons and their families, three brothers and six sisters.
A private family service will be held this summer. Here’s to you, Lawrence. We miss you.
