Dorothe Lucille Barnett, deeply loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully Sept. 1, 2016 at the age of 95.
She was born on March 24, 1921 to Sam and Molly Meier in Orange Cove, Calif. The oldest of four children. They moved back to Lovell, Wyo., where she graduated high school and went on to be a bookkeeper at the Laurel Refinery.
It was on a blind date in Billings, Mont., that she met William Covington Barnett, who would become her sweetheart and then husband of 65 years. They were married Sept. 26, 1942 in Billings, Mont. During their years they were blessed with three children, Terri, Jacque Sue and Rock. They had many adventures throughout their life together including running the first marina at Yellowtail dam and then the Pony Express convenience store in Red Lodge, Mont.
Though we are sadden to be separated from our mother, we are comforted to know she is rejoicing in heaven with Dad, our brother Rock, all three of her siblings, her parents, and all of our other loved ones that left before her.
She leaves behind her loving daughters, Terri Johanson (Gary), Jacque Barnett Dexter, daughter-in-law Ginger Barnett McCloud (Ron), grandchildren Coleman Barnett (Celeste), Cord Barnett (Kristen), Krissta Rexin (Troy), Eric Johanson, and great grandchildren Raelynne and William Barnett, Brock Rexin, Hunter and Chloe Johanson. Several nieces and nephews including, Janell, Cheryl, Robyn, Melody, Candy, Bob Blackwell, and Rick Blackwell who will be officiating her small service Thursday, Sept. 8, at 4 p.m. at the Smith Chapel in Columbus, Mont.
As strongly requested by Dorothe cremation has taken place and at a later time her family will inter her ashes in the Roscoe cemetery between her beloved husband and son.
