Former Absarokee man denies raping 15-year-old
An 20-year-old former Absarokee man has denied raping a young girl.
Kenneth Michael Simpson, 20, was arrested recently on a warrant alleging one felony count of sexual intercourse without consent. He appeared in 22nd Judicial District Court on Dec. 18 and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Stillwater County Attorney-Elect Nancy Rohde called the case a “statutory charge” and asked that Simpson be ordered to have no contact with children under the age of 18.
Despite an objection by the defense, District Judge Blair Jones granted the request, ordering Simpson to have no contact with minors without adult supervision. Simpson had previously posted $25,000 bond in the case. He currently lives in Billings.
According to court documents, the girl’s mother contacted the Stillwater County Sheriff’s Office in March 2014 regarding emails and Facebook messages between Simpson and her daughter, who was 15 at the time.
While being interviewed for an unrelated criminal matter in 2013, Simpson had admitted to investigators that the girl was his ex-girlfriend.
The girl had previously told investigators that she “had gotten into trouble” in 2013 when she and Simpson were dating because she was 13 and he was 16, according to court documents.
The girl began dating Simpson in 2011 and the two had sex when she was 13, according to court documents.
