On Thursday, June 23, 2016, Marilyn L. Maltsberger passed away at home.
She was born to Margraet and James Edwards Grupp on Dec. 5, 1950, the youngest of three girls. She graduated in 1969 from Huntington Park High School in California.
Eventually she moved to Washington, where she met the love of her life and best friend, husband John. They were married on May 14, 1980, in Oak Harbor, Wash., where John was stationed in the United States Navy. She was with him for his last 13 years in service, until his retirement from the Navy on Aug. 31, 1992.
They moved back to Montana (John’s home) and settled down in Columbus. For the next 24 years, she lived in her little gray house with the white picket fence.
She was a very quiet and shy person, until she got to know you. Once you knew her, she had a wonderful sense of humor and a very loving heart. She loved animals, especially her “Doxie” dogs. She was also a very passionate patriot and loved the United States.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband John, with whom she just celebrated their 36th anniversary, and her sisters Virginia Grupp and Barbara (Bud) Beatty.
Cremation has taken place. She will be buried with her husband John in the future at the veterans cemetery in Laurel, Mont. Memorials may be sent to the ASPCA or to help support organ donation so that others might live.
