Marvin Laverne Nelson, 79, of Lovell, Wyo., passed away on March 18, 2016, after a brief illness.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on March 23, 2016 at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell, Wyo. Reverend Daniel R. Jarvis of the Assembly of God Church of Lovell officiated and burial took place at Penrose Cemetery following the service.
Marvin was born in Barnes City, Iowa, on Sept. 23, 1936. He graduated from New Sharon High School in 1953, where he was a proud member of the 1950-1953 undefeated New Sharon Bulldogs football team.
Marvin was married to Marcelene Hainline on June 14, 1957. They were married 58 years.
Marvin worked as a lineman at the Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative for 40 years. He was a founding member of the Merrill Iowa Volunteer Ambulance Service, where he served for 22 years.
He enjoyed being outdoors, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending time with his wife, sons and grandchildren.
Marvin is survived by his wife, his four sons, Michael Nelson and his wife Janet; Mark Nelson and his wife Marlene; Monte Nelson and Morrey Nelson; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents Warner and Hester, and his brothers Wilmont and Everett Ray.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the North Big Horn Hospital Foundation.
