On Jan. 1, 2015, at 9 p.m. Dorothy lost the love of her life and on Jan. 28, 2016, she met him at the exact same time for a date in heaven.
All seven of her children sent her off with love and prayers.
Dorothy E. Patterson was born on Aug. 12, 1929, to Samuel and Clara Scott. She attended school in Columbus, graduating from high school in 1947. Immediately following, she enrolled at Carroll College and earned a Bachelor of Nursing Degree. On Dec. 27, 1950, she married Robert Patterson. Following the wedding she returned to Helena, took her nursing boards and then left for California on her honeymoon. When they returned, they began their life farming, ranching and raising children. Dorothy’s nursing skills came in handy caring for and “patching-up” her eight children. She taught her children how to be loving and fun parents as evidenced by the 20 grandchildren and at present 22 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Catherine, her loving husband Bob, her father Sam, her mother Clara and her brothers Norbert and Bill. Dorothy is survived by her six daughters and son, Joanie (Paul) Matovich, Jeanne (Harry) Harsha, Bev (Kevin) Kovanda, Patty (Mark) Hamilton, Dan (Stephanie) Patterson, Mary Ann (Glenn) Zachry and Connie (Mark) Reichelt. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of St. John’s Garden Court for the love and care given to both Dorothy and Bob.
