Nov. 27, 1964 -- May 3, 2015
Born the 27th of November in 1964, Susan was a bouncy and cheerful child, growing up mostly in Columbus, Mont. The youngest of three girls, Susan was a loved baby of the family and the apple of her father’s eye. Susan graduated from Columbus High in 1983 after which, she traveled with her sisters, enjoying her youth and breaking many hearts along the way.
Late night, Feb. 14, 1986, amidst a massive blizzard, Susan gave birth to her child, Sarah. Through the ups and downs of life, Susan raised her daughter the best she could, forging her own way. She was an adaptable jack of all trades with quick wit.
She succeeded at many jobs from healthcare to foodservice, construction and more. Susan took pride in her daughter and encouraged her to succeed; Sarah will graduate with a Biology major from MSU Billings in late 2015.
As her 20s came to a close, Susan met Randy Roberts. What began as friendship developed into a love that lasted a lifetime. Having been inseparable for nearly 15 years, Susan and Randy weathered the trials of life together.
Susan was renowned for her creativity and artistic flair. She loved searching for little treasures to gift or repurpose. Not a friend or family member exists that doesn’t remember Susan for her humor, spirit, or energy. She was always willing to pitch in and help out and her boundless generosity often surprised people. A lover of the outdoors, Susan enjoyed camping, hunting morels and walking the river in search of rocks.
Finally settling in Billings with Randy and enjoying the simple life. Susan was blessed with the joy of her life, in 2010, when her granddaughter Ilianna was born. Susan loved and doted upon the sweet, precocious, and spitfire child and the two shared a close and special bond, spending many days and nights together. Susan’s loving, generous nature and wild energy live on and shine in her granddaughter.
Susan passed unexpectedly in the early hours of May 3, 2015 in her home. Susan is preceded in death by mother, Karen Pierce.
She is survived by father Dave Pierce, daughter Sarah Rae Pierce-Pipkin and granddaughter Ilianna Pipkin and Family, sisters Lisa Pierce and Jamie Gaskins, nieces Stasha Gaskins and Saige Vacca, and nephew Zeth Gaskins and Family.
A Celebration of Life for Susan will be held May 9 at 4 p.m. in the Fireman’s Point VFW building, outside of Columbus. All who knew and loved her are welcomed and urged to come and reminisce. A potluck dinner will be held and attendees are encouraged to bring a dish, dessert, or beverages. Donations to help with end of life costs are being accepted by the family.
