Polly Salte passed away July 29, 2015, in Billings at Billings Clinic after a 9-year battle with diabetes.
Polly was born Sept. 4, 1955, to Harold and Ann Kirchner in Billings. She was the oldest of five children. Polly was raised on the family farm in Rapelje and graduated from Rapelje High. After high school, Polly moved back to Billings where she attended Billings Business College.
Polly nannied for Carol Crumbaker, taking care of Shelby and Sydne. Polly met the love of her life, Jim Salte, in 1985, and they married a year later. They honeymooned in Norway in 1987. With this union they had two daughters Katie and Lindsay Salte. They raised their family in Columbus. Polly enjoyed being a mother, housewife and cooking; she especially loved making her famous cinnamon rolls and chocolate cake. She was a cook at the Columbus Senior Center for seven years. Polly also loved to donate her time to watching all the babies at the Kid’s Club Daycare in Columbus. Every summer Polly looked forward to her family road trips to Virginia City.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Ann Kirchner. Polly is survived by her husband Jim; her daughters Katie and Lindsay Salte; her siblings Sandy Thompson, Sherry (Craig) Daniels, Kevin (Teresa) Kirchner and Kelly ( Jeff) Norwood. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside will be at 11 a.m., Aug. 22 at the Mountain View Cemetery in Columbus. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m., Aug. 22 at the Columbus Senior Center.
