Gail Schuyler, age 66 passed away June 18 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer in the Beartooth Manor Nursing Home with family at her side.
Gail Avon Metier married Charles Rick Schuyler in 1969 in Billings, Mont., had a daughter named Tonna Dawn in 1970 and in 1974 had a son Dallas James.
Gail was born in Livingston, Mont., on July 1, 1948 and raised in the Crazy Mountains out of Wilsall, Mont., along with her sister Terry and younger brother Herb. Gail loved riding her horse George who would throw her off faithfully once a day and then continue on their way. She always talked about how her and her sister Terry worked hard on the ranch, but also had so much fun exploring the Crazy Mountains. Other childhood passions included raiding neighbor’s gardens for their peas. She loved people and went out of her way to know everyone. Gail was a bartender from way back and absolutely loved it. She started at The Roost in Fishtail, Mont. then went to Stoney’s in Red Lodge, Mont. and worked at the Pryor Creek Bar in Huntley, Mont. for many years. Her passion for meeting people made it a perfect fit as a bartender. She was a great mother and wife, but also usually held down two jobs and never complained. When you saw Gail she always had a smile on her face. She had such a sparkle in her eyes when she smiled even towards the end.
Gail was preceded in death by her Father (Walt Metier), Mother (Helen Metier), Sister (Terry Hertzler) and Son (Dallas James Schuyler).
She is survived by her Husband, Charles Rick Schuyler, Daughter, Tonna Dawn (Rande) Mendenhall and Brother, Herb (Jennifer) Metier, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren whom she loved very much.
