On the morning of Saturday, June 25, 2016, James Walter Tinnes passed away following a stroke at Riverstone Health Hospice Home in Billings. He was born in Detroit, Mich., on Nov. 8, 1942, to James H., and Edna Horle Tinnes.
Jim lived with his aunt and uncle Bob and Olive Ryan in Reed Point and Columbus, starting fourth grade in Reed Point and graduating from Columbus High School in 1961.
He served in the United States Army, 1st Division in Vietnam. Following the military, he lived in Detroit and worked for Ford Motor Company. After retiring, he returned to Columbus and became involved with the Senior Citizens Center (which he loved) delivering meals on wheels, transporting seniors wherever they desired to go, visiting, spending time with them and touching many lives.
Jim was kind and generous. He loved music, especially listening to his niece, Shaun (Sista Otis) and Elvis.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents James and Edna Tinnes and special aunt and uncle Bob and Olive Ryan, and other family members.
He is survived by his brother, John “Duke” (Mary) Tinnes and family, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., special niece Shaun (Sista Otis) and many more family members and friends.
Jim is at peace with our Lord.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at the Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel. Memories may be shared at www.dahlfuneralchapel.com.
