Lady Renegades drop one, boys drop two

The Reed Point-Rapelje Renegades split weekend conference games against Bridger and Absarokee. In the first game against the Bridger Scouts, RPR built an early lead and ended the first quarter at 14-8. The Scouts came back in the second quarter narrowing the that lead to 25-18 going into halftime. Keeping up the momentum, the Renegades added 11 points and held the Scouts to just six in the third quarter. Bridger tried to make a run in the fourth quarter scoring 15 points, but the Renegades held them off by adding 14 points and taking the win 50-39.
Junior Brooke Krieger led in scoring with 23 points, follwed by Brianna Krieger with nine and Elizabeth Erfle wtih eight.
In Saturday’s contest against the Absarokee Huskies, RPR faced a tough defensive game. At the end of the first quarter Absarokee had a slim of 11-9. The Renegades added just six points in the second quarter to the Huskies’ 12, giving the Huskies a 23-15 lead at the half. In the third quarter, RPR tried to cut that lead but Absarokee added 11 pIoints while holding the Renegades to eight. In the final quarter of the game the Renegades made another run at the Huskies but couldn’t overcome their lead and lost to Absarokee 43-34. Brianna Krieger led scoring with 14 points while Destiny Ayers added 10.

The Renegades boys lost two conference games against the Bridger Scouts and the Absarokee Huskies. Going into the game against the Scouts, the Renegades were leading Bridger in the conference standings. The Scouts came out and played a tough defensive game against the Renegades by holding all RPR players to single digits in scoring. At the end of the first quarter the Scouts led 15-10. In the second quarter the Scout added another 10 points while holding the Renegades to 8. The second half of the game the Scouts continued to hold the Renegades to single digit-scoring only allowing the Renegades to score 17 points while they added 34 giving the Scouts a 59-35 win over RPR.
Sophomore Cade Bare led in scoring with nine points while freshman Derek Peterson added eight.
In Saturday’s game against Absarokee, the teams were tied at six at the end of the first quarter. Absarokee added 12 points in the second to the Renegade eight, giving them a 4-point lead at the half. Both teams struggled in the third quarter with the Renegades adding six points to the Huskies’ two. In the final quarter of the game, the Renegades made a run to take the lead late in the game but they ran out of time giving the Huskies a 37-32 win over the Renegades.
Bare again led in scoring with 28 points.
Both squads will host Park City in Rapelje on Friday and Plenty Coups in Reed Point on Saturday.
