Renegades beat Huntley

Stillwater down Red Devils after two losses in Worden

In an exciting finish to a close game at home, the Stillwater Renegades defeated the Huntley Red Devils 4-3 on May 3.
With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Kasidy Robbins belted a triple, putting her in scoring position for the winning run. Hailee Gregerson followed with an infield grounder, and the Red Devil fielder opted to throw to home to stop Robbins from scoring.
Next up for the Renegades was catcher Shelby McMillen, who ended up leading the team with three of Stillwater’s nine hits for the game. With runners on first and third, McMillen walloped the ball into the outfield, and Robbins ran in the winning run.
Gregerson threw 11 strikeouts over seven innings for the win. But things didn’t go so well over the weekend.
A hot Glasgow team that has been wreaking havoc along the Hi-Line crushed the Renegades 11-2 at the Scottie Softball Slam in Glasgow, which was moved to Worden because of the weather.
The 9-3 Scotties were led by pitcher Tyra Johnson, who also had four hits in the game, including two home runs and five RBIs. Glasgow racked up 19 hits to the Renegades’ eight. McMillen led the Stillwater batters with two of the team’s eight hits.
McMillen also led the Renegades with two hits, including a double, in Stillwater’s loss to Conrad in Worden. The Cowboys defeated Stillwater 3-0 in a game that saw only four Renegade hits. Conrad’s Tristan Achenbach threw 16 strikeouts in seven innings to Hailee Gregerson’s nine for Stillwater.
Stillwater’s JV team pulled off a 10-9 win over the Shelby Coyotes in Worden. Maddi Carman was the winning pitcher with 11 strikeouts. She also had two hits. Shannon Reece had another two of the Renegades’ nine total hits.
The Stillwater Renegades will host the divisional softball tournament at Granite Peak Park in Columbus on May 19-21. Games will be played from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 20, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 21.
