Columbus High School’s Tommy Campbell is among the class of 2020 Montana State University Bobcat football signees.

The 6-4, 204-pound CHS senior caught MSU Bobcat Coach Jeff Choate’s eye at a football camp. In an article from 406 MT Sports, Choate said the following about Campbell:

“Tommy Campbell popped on our radar during football camp. We do what we call Smokehouse (to determine) the camp’s fastest guy, and he ended up being that guy. a long, athletic guy who really, really runs well and is just now starting to scratch the surface of what he’s going to be as a football player. He can play tight end, he could be a field end for us or a back. He has really good twitch and is an excellent pass rusher.”

Campbell made the Second Team All-Southern B as a junior.

CHS Football Coach Blake Hoge said Campbell missed a game his senior season, which kept him from receiving any post-season honors. Hoge also said that voting for Campbell’s position — defensive end — was very close. He will be playing in the Class B All-Star game in June.

He is the son of Tony Campbell and Cristy Goldsmith.
