Thursday, November 18, 2021

Clarice Louise (Arthun) Hedrick was born on Jan. 8, 1935 in Columbus, Mont. The daughter of Joseph and Jessie (Boylan) Arthun. She lived around Absarokee all her life. She was baptized and confirmed into the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Absarokee. She went to school at West Rosebud School on Fiddler Creek and Spring Creek. She graduated from Absarokee High school in 1953.

On June 7, 1953, she married the love of her life Paul (Corky) Hedrick. They made their home on the Stockade, where they ranched for 65 years.

She loved to help people, but her priority was the achievements of her family and friends. She would work in the fields baling hay every year. For years she cooked in hunting camp, where she helped establish JR Outfitter’s and the Stoney Lonesome Ranch. She always had fresh cookies and coffee for whom ever would pop in to visit. Her world was her kids, grandkids and great grandkids, plus all of their friends and some even called her “Mom” or “Grandma,” she loved that.

Clarice belonged to the Spring Creek Stockgrowers 4-H Club in her younger days, then became a leader later on. She was a member of the Spring Creek Community Club, Absarokee Jaycees and the Absarokee Immanuel Lutheran Church. Clarice and several of the football mothers, raised money to put the lights and track in at the Absarokee Husky football field, she was very proud of that. She was Secretary of the YRA Rodeo Club for nine years. Her center was always the kids.

She helped wear out many pinochle card decks. She loved to sew, knit and crochet, but was never too busy to watch her kids, grandkids, great grandkids or their friends play ball or rodeo.

Clarice is survived by her four children, Josh Hedrick, Georgi (Scott) Hamel, Debra (Mike) Farnsworth and Ronis (Scot) Yanzick; her sister-in-law Shirley Blakely; Nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, five nieces, two nephews and their families, plus so many of you she loved, she considered you her children and dearest friends.

Clarice is preceded in death by her best friend and husband Corky of 67 years, her parents, son-in-law Lee Wilson, sister Joyce Arthun and sister-in-law Phylis Shaver.

We cannot thank the caregivers and Fellow House Friends at Shipp’s Assisted Living for all their love, laughter and fabulous care they gave Mom. You are true Angels, God bless you all.

A memorial service in Clarice’s honor will be held Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, in the Anipro Event Center (2878 Hwy 78, Absarokee) at 11 a.m., with a reception following.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Absarokee Immanuel Lutheran Church or any organization dear to your heart.
