Gordon Curran

Gordon R. Curran was born Nov. 17, 1953. He was the oldest son of Jerold R. Curran and Betty Darkenwald. Gordon grew up in Billings, but had many childhood memories of his grandfather’s cabin on the Stillwater River with his brothers, Lynn of Nye, Mont., and Daniel of Billings.

He graduated from Billings West High School and attended Eastern Montana College. He studied creative writing and had many articles published in the Montana Free Press from Red Lodge, Mont.

He married Fran Curran and together moved to Nye, Mont., where they owned and operated Carter’s Camp for 25 years and raised their two sons, Richard and Christopher, who now live in Billings.

In later years, he moved to Yuma, Ariz., owned and operated the Franchise Perma-Glaze Porcelain Refinishing. He returned to Montana to live with his brother Dan and later moved to Roberts, Mont., as his health began to fail. Gordon passed on July 12, 2018, and is survived by his two brothers, Lynn and Daniel, sons Richard (Megan) and Christopher (Jaimee), and 7 grandchildren. Rest in Peace Gordon.

Memorial services were held Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Rocky Mountain College – President’s Great Hall.
