Sharon Ann was born on a Saturday to Bill and Eileen Ekwortzel in Billings, Mont. She was the middle child of three siblings and the only girl, making her the apple of her Dad’s eye. She grew up on the family ranch nestled in the scenic Stillwater Valley.

In her youth, she had a 4-H milk cow and rode a horse named Patches. Grade school was in the oneroom schoolhouse in Nye, Mont., and she graduated in 1969 from Absarokee High School.

Sharon attended college at Cody, Wyo., leading to a profession of working for the national parks. She resided in Gardiner, Yosemite, Calif., and ended up in Coronado, Ariz.

Her job position led her to becoming acquainted with Larry Dale, a park superintendent. They married on Feb.12, 1983, making her world complete with theaddition of his four children.

Sharon had a multitude of health issues the majority of her life, husband Larry was devoted and by her side through all of them.

They eventually settled in Herford, Ariz., where Sharon, after earning a bachelor of arts degree, was employed with probation and parole.

Larry and she were devoted members of the San Jose Baptist Church, where Sharon was an avid participant in the church choir. In 2004, they made plans to relocate back to the Stillwater Valley and the family ranch in Nye, Mont. Making this move was a difficult decision, as they left a tremendous circle of friends in Arizona.

Sharon so loved her cats and was incredibly talented with writing, crafts and crocheting. She was a generous person who was always helping charities. Her listening ear was open to help counsel others or just be there for them, making her friendships lifelong ones.

Her conversations were full of laughter and her outlook on life was always optimistic. Sharon was a fighter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Eileen Ekwortzel, and loving daughter Laurie Dale Burdiek.

She is survived by husband Laurel “Larry” Dale; children Brad (Susan) Dale, Elizabeth (Tyler) McGlasson and Jon (Sylvia) Dale; brothers Rick (Jean) Ekwortzel, Terry (Shari) Ekwortzel, niece Kennedy Ekwortzel, and numerous special grandchildren. Also, special Arizona friends Toni Schuck and Cheryl and Al Tomlinson.

A service will be held in June with interment at the Nye Cemetery.

Sharon will be greatly missed by family and friends that take comfort knowing she’s in God’s loving hands.
