Richard G. Ekwortzel 

Richard G. “Rick ” Ekwortzel of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho passed suddenly on Monday, May 4, 2020, at his home.

He was born on June 24, 1944 in Billings, Mont., to Bill and Eileen (Riddle) Ekwortzel.

Rick was a true cowboy who loved horses, guns, and the rodeo. He spent his days outdoors, competing in Benchrest shooting, and he was a heeler in team roping in the rodeo.

Here tired from the Bureau of Land Management after years of dedicated service. For the past few years, he volunteered at the Hayden Lake Senior Center and the NRA’s Sponsored Youth Program.

Rick was preceded in death by parents, Bill and Eileen Ekwortzel and sister, Sharon Dale.

He is survived by wife, Jean Ekwortzel; brother, Terry Ekwortzel and family; children: Rena Rucker, Fred Geist, and Perry.

“We will miss you, Big Brother.”

There will be a graveside service at the Nye Cemetery on May 30, 2020, at 4 p.m.
