The annual Bike Rodeo at the Columbus Elementary School was held last Thursday, courtesy of Columbus Fire Rescue and the Columbus Police Department. The wildly popular event features a brief lesson on proper signaling, followed by a block-long course, along which firemen/EMS staff are located to encourage the kids, as well as help keep them on course. One of the biggest moments came late in the morning when Columbus Police Chief Jacob Ward donned a helmet and took a spin around the course, much to the delight of the kids — and adults — in attendance. Five lucky students were given new bikes, donated K&B Construction, Deb and Dale Latray, Tonya House and CFR’s own Summer-Lee Luckow, who donated two bikes.
