Steve Derby’s connection to sColumbus Fire Rescue (CFR) came through one his best friends from Red Lodge high school — Jacob Ellis, who is a paramedic/firefighter.

“He got me an application to join on the team and the rest was history,” said Derby.

Derby said what he enjoys the most about being part of CFR is helping the community and “being there for people on what could be the worst day of their lives.”

Just as important to him are the lifelong friends he has made with the other volunteers and staff.
