Betty Kindsfater

Our Mom, Grandma, Nana, and sister, Betty Ruth Lapp Kindsfater, went to heaven on May 15, 2018. She was born on April 28, 1929, to John Lapp and Lydia Ehrlick Lapp in From-berg, Mont. She grew up in a large family with seven brothers and sisters. At age 17, she met the love of her life, Herbert Samuel Kindsfater, and they married on Aug. 31, 1946, celebrating 71 years together last summer. They settled in Laurel, Mont., and welcomed a daughter, Pamela Ann, in 1947, and a son, Bruce Herbert, in 1950.

After decades working on her feet at Wold’s and Thrift-way, Betty retired with Herb and spent 20 plus years as snowbirds retreating to the warmth of Yuma, Ariz., each winter. Betty loved shoes, anything that sparkled, cooking, card games, visiting friends, and most of all, her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband Herb; her daughter Pam (Rich) Relyea; her son Bruce (Michele) Kindsfater; her grandsons Herb (Suzanne) Kindsfater and Jeff (Meg) Kindsfater; her granddaughter, Kristin (Joe) Relyea and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Gloria Bundy, Susan Cahill, and Ethel (Richard) Ernst, and her brother Harold (Vivian) Copple. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Lapp, and sisters Rosemary, Helen, and Alice.

Although her heart gave out, her love never did and sustained us as we celebrated her life on Tuesday, May 22, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Laurel, which was followed by a graveside burial at Laurel Cemetery and a luncheon at the church.
