Fenna Van Gelder Klingberg, previously from Fishtail, passed away on March 31, 2021.

Fenna was born in Rock Rapids, Iowa, on March 3, 1922, to Jacob and Reina Van Gelder. Born an identical twin she and her sister, Enna, were the youngest of seven daughters.

Fenna graduated from University of Oregon in 1946 with a degree in business. She worked in New York City and Conneticut as a personal secretary from 1946-1951. In Dec. 1951, Fenna married George Klingberg in Mystic, Conn. In 1959, she gave birth to her only child, Kristin. In 1971, the Klingbergs moved to Fishtail, Mont., where she lived until May 2019.

Fenna was active as a Girl Scout leader in the 1950s and 1960s. She was always a staunch Republican and was active in the party both in Connecticut and in Montana. Fenna founded Absaroka Fine Arts in the 1970s bringing the arts in various forms to the area along with instigating the first full time art teacher in the Absarokee School system. She loved to hunt for antiques, sew and especially work outdoors. Her vegetable gardens were always spectacular and she was enjoying her riding lawn mower until 2018.

Fenna was preceded in death by husband George, parents Jacob and Reina Van Gelder, sisters Gertrude, Rena, Agnes, Tille, Henrietta and the most special identical twin sister Enna. She is survived by daughter Kristin (Robert) Carsley of Oxford, Miss., and various nieces and nephews.
