Lester Lee Hoagland, 73, formerly of Rapelje, Mont., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at Billings Clinic Hospital.

Lester was born May 2, 1947, in Billings, Mont., to James and Marjorie (Zeigler) Hoagland. He was raised north of Rapelje and graduated from Rapelje High School in 1965. After graduation, he continued to work on the family ranch and eventually took over for his father. This is where he spent the next 40 years of his life doing what he loved.

On May 24, 1986, he married the love of his life, Trinkia Bokma, and together they raised two children, Malynda and Brady.

During his time in Rapelje , he was very involved in the church, school, café board, and fire department. Lester loved farming, ranching, and the outdoors, as well as spending time with his family and friends. Lester will be remembered for his extraordinary kind and loving heart and his willingness to always share his knowledge.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marjorie, and his wife Trinkia.

He is survived by his children, Malynda (Danny) Leuthold of Laurel, Mont., and Brady (Cory) Hoagland of Billings, Mont.; his brothers Russell (Dianne) Hoagland of Glendive, Mont., and David (Sherry) Hoagland of Molt, Mont.; sister Diana (David) Baker of Post Falls, Idaho; grandsons Cade and Trey Leuthold, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Committal services will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery in Columbus on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020, at 11 a.m. for the family.

The memorial service to celebrate Lester’s life will be held at the Rapelje Evangelical Church at 12 p.m., with a luncheon to follow. Memorials can be made to the Rapelje Church, Rapelje Fire Department, or place of your choice.
