There is hope in recovery
There is hope in recovery
I just accomplished one year of sobriety on Dec. 27. I have attended Alcoholics Anonymous in Absarokee for the past three years. One of the first readings in the Big Book describes “the need to be aware of a Power greater than ourselves to achieve sobriety.”
I had not believed in God due to harsh ways God had been depicted to me in the past. Through my three years in AA — reading, listening, sharing, questioning, failing — God gently let me know He is by my side. I believe and trust that without God’s help I could not overcome alcohol on my own. I took my eyes off God last Christmas and fell. I started over on Dec. 27, 2019, and it has been a year of boot camp for me — not easy. I have God, AA and people I know I can trust and be vulnerable with.
Please, if you or someone you know is struggling, there is hope. All my best for you,
Paula Shortridge Randall
