Support from community cherished by Gneiting family

Thursday, February 28, 2019

Thank you for your support of the Gneiting family throughout fall and winter of 2018. Your prayers, positive thoughts, and kind words were felt from states away.

Katie loved reading your messages, receiving your cards, and keeping her relationships with each of you for as long as possible.

We feel strongly that this positive energy helped Katie to have many more good days where she enjoyed time with her family and was able to cross many things off of her bucket-list in her last few months — such as trips to the beach, visiting Leavenworth, and spoiling her grandson Jack with adventures, popsicles, and as many stories as he could handle.

Your continued support as the Gneiting’s neighbors, friends and family, regardless of distance, is what sets the Columbus community apart from all others. We appreciate each of you, and hope you know what an important part you have played, and continue to play, in our lives.

As you all know, Katie was a great lover of music, reading, children, and friendships. Please continue to find ways to spread her spirit through generosity and kindness towards others, building friendships with those around you, and always looking for ways to be supportive of your community and neighbors.

A remembrance service will be held for Katie on March 17, at 1:30 p.m. at Columbus Community Congregational Church and all are welcome to join us in celebrating Katie’s life and contribution to the Columbus community.

This is a portion of The Legacy, by Merrit Malloy, and we feel it fits Katie perfectly and want to share it with each of you:

“When I die, give what is left of me to children…. Look for me in the people I have known and loved… let me live on in your eyes, your mind and your acts of kindness… The body dies – but love does not. So when all that is left of me is love…. Give me away.”

We are forever grateful of your love and support, and look forward to remaining a part of this community, regardless of distance.
