The likelihood of you and your family recovering from an emergency (flood, fire, toxic spill, etc.) depends on how well you planned and prepared for such emergencies.

Stillwater County Disaster and Emergency Services (DES) has several pamphlets available that will assist you in preparing for evacuation or sheltering-in-place in the event of an emergency or disaster. Information includes: preparing an emergency kit, creating a personal support network, how to shelter-in-place or evacuate and wildfire information.

The words “shelter-in-place” refer to selecting an interior room, or rooms, within your home, business, or work environment with no or few windows, and taking shelter in that room. In many instances, local authorities will issue advice to shelter-in-place via TV, phone, or radio emergency alerts.

These pamphlets are available at the Columbus Senior Center, Absarokee Senior Center, Community Health Office, Stillwater Billings Clinic and the Stillwater County DES.

If you need further information, call the DES office (406) 322-8060, we will assist you in any way possible.
