Remember to take in Shakespeare in our parks

Thursday, July 11, 2019

Nothing beats sitting in the park with family and friends, sharing a picnic – except adding a free, quality live performance to the mix.  In just a few days, Stillwater County residents will get to do just that as Columbus and Fishtail again host Shakespeare in the Parks.

“Henry IV, Part 1” will be presented July 16, at 6:30 p.m. in Columbus at Heritage Park.  This drama has been re-set in WWI to add a modern twist to an age-old situation.

“The Merry Wives of Windsor,” a comedy, will be presented the following evening, July 17, at 6:30 p.m. in Fishtail Family Park.

Kudos to the Stillwater Shakespeare Society and Absaroka Fine Arts for continuing to work behind the scenes to bring these performances to our county. Contracts must be completed, sponsors contacted, advertising arranged, and actors housed and fed. Thank you to the groups for taking on these roles to bring an evening of entertainment to our communities.  Thank you, too, to local sponsors for for realizing the value of life performances and for continuing to support this opportunity for Stillwater County families.

I encourage everyone to mark your calendars for July 16-17 to enjoy these evening performances.
