Stillwater Renegade Talyn Richard did not end her softball career with a rained out divisional tournament. Last week, Richard signed a letter of intent to play with the Williston State College (WSC) Teton softball team next season.

New WSC Head Coach Dan Ries was in Columbus Monday for Richard’s signing day. He was named the Teton head coach earlier this month.

Richard was Stillwater’s lead-off hitter this season, and proved to be a reliable bat for the Renegades. She recorded hits in 16 of the 20 games she played this year. On the defensive side of the game, Richard is an outfielder, spending most of her time this season in right field.

WSC Assistant Softball Coach Alexandra Haskell had this to say about Richard: “We are extremely excited about her signing on to play at WSC. She will bring a big bat to the plate and has shown she has a lot of power in her swing. She’ll also add speed around the bases and in the outfield. She is a great addition to the program.”

WSC is a junior college in Williston, N.D., that belongs to the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference (the same conference as Dawson Community College). The Tetons had a tough time last season, going 3-25 overall.
