Sarah Johnson, our sweet momma, gramma, great gramma, auntie, and friend to all, passed away on Oct. 6, after several weeks of struggling to recover from a stroke. She was 87 years old. She now is rewarded by eternal life with her Lord, Jesus and her many family members already there.

Sarah was born in Houston, Texas, to Ike and Harriett West. She was the youngest of three children. She graduated from Rice University in 1954 and married her handsome football star, Jack Day (deceased). She taught school for several years while Jack finished Dental School.

Though Sarah was a true Texan, her favorite place on earth was Montana, where her sister Anne Baken (Al) lived (both deceased). Many joyous summers were spent there and many friends were made.

Her brother Frank (deceased) hung her moon, and is credited with teaching her to dance. You can bet that’s what’s happening in heaven now! Sarah later married Don Johnson (deceased) residing in Denver for many years.

In Denver, she sold real estate, and had her own brokerage firm of The West Group Limited. She became an avid Broncos fan and remained loyal to them after she and Don moved to Absarokee, Mont., to retire.

Sarah was an active PEO for over 50 years, gracing chapters DK (Houston), HJ (Denver), CC (Absarokee), and DF (Denver).

Sarah will always be remembered as vibrant, loving, stylish, generous, faithful, happy and “cool!” She truly loved her friends and family, and made it known. Never a dull moment passed when Sarah was in the house! She had an exuberant personality and wit.

Sarah leaves behind her children, Anne Morris (Dennis), Russell Day (Laurie), and Nancy Day; her grandchildren, Kaley Scott (Bart), Mackenzie Morris, Matthew Day, Olivia Day, Austin Sadvar (Meghan) and Annie Juergens (Brent) and her great grandchildren Elle, Willa, Leo Scott, and Daylen Corl.

Due to COVID-19, no service is planned at this time.

It would honor Sarah and her love of life, if you made a donation in her name to Hope Ranch, her favorite and personal charitable cause.
