Shane Justin Marvin, 45, of Columbus, Mont., passed away on May 30, 2022.

Shane was born on May 2, 1977, to Larry and Arlene Marvin in Billings, Mont.

After he graduated from Billings Senior High in 1996, Shane explored a handful of career options before enlisting in the United States Marine Corp. in 2004.

Shane’s military career included basic training at San Diego MCRD, Combat Engineer training at Camp Lejune in North Carolina, station assignments at MCAS Kaneohe Bay in Oahe, Hawaii, combat assignments in Iraq and a deployment mission on the USS Tortuga, where he trained local marine forces in multiple different countries in southeast Asia.

After a decorated military career, one of Shane’s favorite assignments was the role of “Uncle” to Haley, Kennette, Kincaid, Rylyne, Lucas, William and Macelyn. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and all things “outdoors.”

In 2018, Shane met Kathy. The two were married at Fireman’s Point in Columbus in July of 2021. They enjoyed traveling, experiencing different types of cuisines, and spending time with their furkids.

He was predeceased by Barbara Marvin (paternal grandmother) and Katie Frey (maternal grandmother). He is survived by his wife Kathy Marvin (Gates), parents, Larry and Arlene Marvin, sister Tiffaney Teske (Sonny), brother Jason Marvin (Brittney), stepson Ryan Gates, and nieces and nephews Haley, Kennette, Kincaid, Rylyne, Lucas, William, and Macelyn.

In accordance with Shane’s wishes, official services will not be held.
