Michael was born in Taft, Calif., son of Wilfred and Eleanor Stadtmiller. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Sarsfield (DD-837) during the Vietnam War from 1965 through 1969.

On June 21, 1969, Michael married Joan Patrich in Bakersfield, Calif. Michael and Joan lived in Hanford, Calif. where Michael worked for Myers Brothers Well Drilling and then Last Chance Ditch Company for 21 years. In 1994, Michael and Joan moved to Billings, Mont., where he worked for Big Ditch Company and Cove Ditch Company until he retired in 2002.

After his wife retired in 2010, they moved to Fishtail, Mont.

Michael was known for his large cannon in the front yard which he made while living in California. He was known for sitting in the front of the house and waving to people who drove by. He could also be seen on his ladder fixing his solar lights and his wind chimes on the property from time to time. He loved sitting outside and watching the wildlife.

He is survived by his wife Joan Stadtmiller; his children, Sharon Williams (Jonas) of Hanford, Calif., Diane Miller of Visalia, Calif. and Gary Stadtmiller (Robin) of Hanford, Calif. He is also survived by grandchildren Kyle Young of Hanford, Calif., Ashley Paddock (Shane) of Lemoore, Calif., Kayla Young of Hanford, Calif., Erika Miller of Hanford, Calif. and Brooke Moss (Brandon) of Coarsegold, Calif.. He is also survived by great grandchildren Logan Diaz, Harper Paddock and a great-grandson due in July.

No services are planned at this time. He will be warmly remembered by friends and family.
