Joan Marie Uhrich, 86, passed away on Oct. 13, 2021, in Columbus, Mont.

She was born Aug. 20, 1935, in Billings, Mont., to Eldon and Ruth Clark. During high school, Joan’s first job was at Woolworth’s working the soda fountain in Downtown Billings.

On Oct. 9, 1954, Joan married the love of her life, Leo Uhrich. They just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Joan and Leo moved to Columbus where they raised their three children: Leanne, Larry and Clark. During years of retirement, Joan and Leo enjoyed many years of traveling down South for the winter. Some of those years, they worked at Edge Water Casino for Mr. Laughlin. Joan worked in the RV Office where she was awarded employee of the year.

Family was everything to Joan. Camping, fishing and playing cards are hobbies she enjoyed and passed down through the generations. Joan showed her love through her talent and passion of crocheting. She made sure every family member received a handmade afghan, putting in hours of thoughtful work from the color to the design.

At every family get together, it was always requested that Joan bring her homemade rolls, noodles, pies or cheesecakes. During their later years, Joan and Leo enjoyed watching women’s basketball, PBR and going to the Columbus Senior Center together.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Clark, and beloved son-in-law Randall Sekora. She is survived by her husband Leo; three children, Leanne Sekora, Larry (Theresa) and Clark (Lori); seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and 4-legged companion Minnie.

Celebration of Joan’s life will be Friday Oct. 22, 2021, 1 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Columbus, Mont. Reception to follow at Columbus Senior Center.
