Wrestlers take second at Columbus Invitational

The Columbus-Absarokee-Park City wrestlers came within one point of winning the team’s home meet last Saturday, propelled by six first place finishes. The Couguskies finished the meet in second place with 172 points; first place Huntley Project ended the day with 173 points. The Red Devils were ranked in the top-10 statewide for Class B-C teams going into the meet. Columbus-Absarokee-Park City beat third place Billings Senior by 48.5 points. Cougusky senior Dylan Raihl took the top place in the 152-pound weight class with a perfect 10-0 performance last weekend. Entering winter break, he was ranked second in the state for his Class B-C weight category. Junior Carter Beer also took first in his 285-pound category with an undefeated record (7-0). Freshman Weston Timberman (103 pounds) and senior Colton Getz (145 pounds) each went 10-1 to win their weight classes. One hundred thirteen-pound freshman Brady Ellison took first place with an 8-1 record last weekend. Peyton Baumgartner, a sophomore, went 7-3 to take first place in the 126-pound category. The rest of the Cougusky team finished as follows:

• Senior Kade Pendill (285 pounds): 2nd place, 3-1

• Senior Nathan Hollar (145 pounds): 6th place, 4-4

• Sophomore Domonic Fitch (160 pounds): 6th place, 3-5

• Freshman Colby Coleman (152 pounds): 7th, 6-4

• Freshman Jeremy Hollar (138 pounds): 8th place, 3-3

• Senior Clay Haverland (132 pounds): 8th place, 2-3

• Freshman Kali Hood (205 pounds): 8th place, 0-3

• Sophomore Acel Reynolds (103 pounds): 4-7

• Senior Joe Carlson (132 pounds): 2-4

• Junior Brent Kelly (138 pounds) 1-4


This weekend, the Columbus-Absarokee-Park City wrestlers will travel for the two-day Choteau Classic. Next Tuesday, they will compete in Livingston.
