Senior Dylan Raihl began his final season as a Couguskie by winning his weight class.

The Columbus-Absarokee Couguskies got back into the swing of things at the Badger Invitational in Cascade last weekend.  The Cascade Invite was the team’s first wrestling meet of the season.

Under new head coach Jason Rhoten, the Stillwater County team took fourth place at the invitational with 190.5 points, only 3.5 points behind third place Great Falls High and 29.5 points behind first place Townsend.  Twenty-three teams competed from Class AA and Class B-C schools.

Of the 18 Columbus-Absarokee wrestlers who competed over the two days of the Badger Invitational, eight placed in their weight classes.

Senior Dylan Raihl went 4-0 to win the 152-pound category, and junior Carter Beer also went undefeated (4-0) to win his 285-pound weight class.

Nate Palmer, a senior, took second in the 170-pound category after going 3-1.  Freshman Brady Ellison, in his first meet with the Couguskies, also went 3-1 to take second in the 120-pound weight class.

With records of 4-1, senior Colton Getz and freshman Weston Timberman finished third in their weight classes.  Getz competes in the 145-pound weight class, and Timberman belongs to the 113-pound category.

Sophomore Acel Reynolds went 3-2 to earn fourth place in the 103-pound weight class.  Peyton Baumgartner, also a sophomore, took fifth in the 126-pound category with a 3-2 record.

Also competing at the Badger Invitational were: freshman Colby Coleman (3-2), sophomore Domonic Fitch (2-2), senior Nathan Hollar (1-2), junior Brent Kelley (0-1), Joe Carleson (0-2), and junior Troy Fiscareili (0-2).

The Couguskies have two meets coming up in the next week.  On Thursday, the team will travel for the Townsend Mixer.  The wrestlers will then turn around and compete in the Whitehall Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
