Every year, Columbus Elementary School students choose a charity, such as donating to Project Hope, adopting a local family to buy presents for or a food drive for folks in the community.

This year, Mrs. Roberts’ 2nd grade class chose to help the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter. Two weeks ago, flyers were sent out to promote this fundraiser. Last week, the students went around to all the classes and collected the donations, which totaled just more than $300. Mrs. Roberts tied this in with a lesson on the importance of community service.
