Columbus High School graduates Shayne Stadel and Jackson Booth graduated from the Montana Law Enforcement Academy (MLEA) in Helena on Dec. 5. Both are 2016 Columbus High School graduates.

The men were part of MLEA's 170th graduating class. A total of 58 law enforcement officers graduated from the program in this class. MLEA is the official law enforcement and public safety educational/training institution for all state, county, city and tribal officers in Montana. Completion of the 12-week Basic Academy is required for all law enforcement within their first year of service. 

Stadel attended North Western and Dawson Community colleges and studied criminal justice. He is the son of Clinton and Heidi Stadel, grandson of Darlene Hegg and Alvin and Rosie Stadel, all of Columbus. Stadel is currently a Great Falls Police officer.

Booth attended North Idaho College and worked for the Yellowstone County Detention Facility in Billings.  He also worked as a reserve deputy for the Stillwater County Sheriff’s Office.  Jackson is the son of Kelly Grewell of Columbus.  Booth is currently a Laurel Police officer.
