A Billings woman was killed in a fatal crash on I-90 near the eastbound rest area last Friday morning, Oct. 1

Ashley Marie Ramirez, 38, was identified by the Stillwater County Coroner’s Office earlier this week.

The accident was reported by a passing motorist at 10:31 a.m. who said Ramirez’s vehicle had gone into a ditch and possibly rolled near mile marker 419, according to Stillwater County Sheriff’s Office dispatch records.

HelpFlight was requested by First Responders, who reported the woman “was trapped,” in the vehicle. CPR was initiated but was unsuccessful.

Traffic was pushed into the passing lane and then completely shut down when HelpFlight landed. Ramirez was declared dead at the scene. A coroner was summoned at 11:26 a.m. and her body was transported by Columbus Fire Rescue.

Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the accident and has said that Ramirez rear-ended a truck that was merging onto I-90 near mile marker 419. The other driver was not injured.
